Another excellent exhibition is running in Sharjah’s Museum for Contemporary Arab Art : “Face of Asia” featuring photographs from one of my favorite documentary photographers Steve McCurry. If the name does not ring a bell, his most famous photograph (see below) definitely will … the way Steve McCurry captured the haunting green eyes of an Afgan refugee girl is just beyond words. A large number of his photographs taken in countries such as India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Cambodia, Myanmar and Tibet are on display in large format in the museum. As a bonus notes of the photographer are posted next to the pictures, sometimes detailing some personal stories of the subjects. Not to be missed! (the exhibition runs until 21st June – and if traffic or parking woes in Sharjah would worry you : why not go on a Friday (museum is open on Fridays from 5 – 8pm) and park in the parking area under the museum?). Entry is free.
